Using data from the 2011 Census – Pobal have created the “HP Deprivation Index ”
They looked at certain census data broken down by Electoral District- and scored every district on it’s relative level of deprivation or affluence using information such as Unemployment , Home Ownership , Education , Type of Jobs, Lone Parent numbers and age profiles. There are 3400 Electoral Districts in Ireland.

The highest Dublin area on the deprivation Index is Kilmore C in North Central Dublin – this came 11th just below Rathbane.
Looking at larger areas – counties and cities – Limerick City came out worst overall in the deprivation index – followed by Co Donegal , Co Wexford and Co Longford in 4th spot.
